RAVEN KAUFFMAN

White arrow

Creative Director. Curator. Atmospherist.

Raven Kauffman is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist whose work spans couture styling, objet design and immersive interiors. With a 25-year career bridging fashion, sculpture, and spatial storytelling, she is known for crafting mythic, intimate environments from the inside out.

A self-taught maker with a background in biochemistry and fashion PR, Raven approaches her work with rare material fluency. Whether shaping a chromed breastplate for Tom Ford, a sculptural mirror, or a complete bridal world, her process is guided by instinct, ritual, and precision. She blends raw materials and refined gestures into something sacred and strange. Always personal, never formulaic.

Born in a 1703 Pennsylvania Dutch farmhouse, Raven grew up curating her own Wunderkammer of bones, feathers, beetle wings, and stones. This early devotion to nature's poetry still echoes through her practice. After earning a degree in Biochemistry from Cornell, she began her career in fashion PR, first at Donna Karan and later at Gucci under Tom Ford during the transformative years of the late 1990s. It was in Ford's visionary world that Raven began to explore storytelling through image, texture, and form. Today, she is best known for her work as a couture stylist and creative director, crafting full visual narratives for private clients and public figures. Raven does not simply dress her clients. She builds environments. Working closely with couturiers, ateliers, and global artisans, she creates wardrobes that feel mythic and lived-in, as much second skin as sculpture. Her approach to styling is immersive, collaborative, and deeply conceptual. For weddings, afterparties, and editorial moments, she develops original styling directives that shape the mood and rhythm of the experience. These briefs become atmospheric frameworks, translating symbolic ideas into textiles, accessories, silhouettes, and tone. Guests are styled with intention, as if cast into a shared story. Nothing is incidental. Every detail, from gloves to jewels to the transition from night into morning, is considered part of the narrative arc. Alongside her styling and direction, Raven maintains a personal practice in sculpture, lighting, and wearable art. Her pieces often incorporate brass, silver, raw gemstones, and natural materials. Her jewelry and handbags have appeared on Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Demi Moore, and Sarah Jessica Parker, and were carried by cult retailers like Maxfield, Luisa Via Roma, and Harvey Nichols. In 2016, a reconnection with Tom Ford led to one of Raven's most iconic commissions: Zendaya's chrome breastplate for the People's Choice Awards and Gemma Chan's surrealist headpiece for the Met Gala's "Camp" theme. These projects marked the beginning of a new chapter, where Raven's deep material fluency met high-glamour stagecraft. Her most recent work includes large-scale interior and object design for a private estate in Costa Careyes, Mexico. There, she developed sculptural installations and architectural elements that fused symbolism with sensuality, working with artisans across Mexico to bring the vision to life. Raven is currently developing a capsule collection of objets, mirrors, and lighting for private release. Each piece is part of an ongoing conversation between beauty, ritual, and raw materials.

Maker and Cultural Figure

Raven Kauffman is not only a maker behind the scenes. She is also a visible presence within the worlds of fashion, design, and culture. As her creative practice continues to evolve, so too does her role as a contributor, collaborator, and cultural figure.

Style as Material Storytelling

Her image reflects her practice; layered, sculptural, intentional. Equal parts intuitive and editorial, her personal style has become a touchstone for the values she represents: refinement, originality, depth, and a commitment to material storytelling.Raven is not a conventional guest. She is a contributor. Her role within these spaces is one of exchange, insight, and presence. As she continues to be featured in publications and platforms that value artistic substance, her position as a creative personality grows in step with her practice.

Creative Force in Fashion

Her attendance at Paris Couture Week and key fashion events is a natural extension of her work. Whether invited into ateliers to fabricate sculptural forms, into fittings to design symbolic detail for clients, or into showrooms and salons as a trusted creative peer, Raven’s presence is felt far beyond the front row. She is recognised by those who shape fashion’s inner language and is often photographed not just for what she wears, but for the perspective she brings.

Cultural Presence Everywhere

She is equally at ease in the background as she is stepping into the frame. She brings cultural value to every room she enters.
